A fact which implies this cassette version was not released until 1990.

Discussion about Nirvana - Bleach
MrDog
I think this is the first cassette version. I don't have any reason to challenge the date of the live photo on this version, but is there any evidence that the Caroline version came out before the beginning of 1990? The following could be interpreted in a number of ways, but overall an indie-first interpretation seems more plausible:(1) The white-vinyl LP came out in mid-89. How quickly would Caroline have picked up the cassette-rights for press-and-distribute?(2) [This] indie Sub Pop typography for the front of the j-card is identical to what's used on the labels of both this and the Caroline versions. (3) Using the LP jacket as the front graphic with the titles below is old-school/cheesy. Why would Sub Pop revert to an inferior and obviously old-fashioned design?(4) The drum-kit photo is far more compelling. Why would Sub Pop replace it with one that does little more than duplicate the front image? (Did Kurt complain?)(5) The indie Sub Pop printing on the black cassette shell is blotchy, and the cassette box is old-fashioned black rather than clear. Caroline is sharper with clear shell and clear case. (6) The Geffen cassette uses the same typography and inside photo as the Caroline version. I could imagine Caroline not giving its own cassette artwork back to Sub Pop, but how, then would the Caroline-only version have reached Geffen later on?etc. etc.
